Last week, I placed an order on LEGO.com for The Penguin Artic Roller and some The LEGO Batman Movie Minifigures. In the month of January, LEGO throws in a free The Mini Batwing set if you spend more than $35 (in a LEGO store or on LEGO.com). It’s one of my favorite all-time promotional sets and I’m a little disappointed I didn’t visit a LEGO store. I can typically get them to throw in a couple of extras for my kids.

The set is pretty simple so this will be a fairly short review.

The Instructions

The main issue with these types of instructions sheets is that you really have to pay attention to what pieces are involved in a particular step because the pieces aren’t highlighted very often. I tend to miss a piece here or there and have to go back and fix it. It is a pretty simple and enjoyable build. I think it took me closer to 15 minutes because my son was building a LEGO set next to me and kept asking me to help him find pieces.

The set doesn’t come with any minifigs but I’m including a photo with Batman so you could see the size and scale of The Mini Batwing.

Final Thoughts

This is a really cool little set, perfect for beginner and advanced builders, especially if you like Batman. I don’t typically buy LEGO sets without minifigs but it was a nice bonus to get along with my recent LEGO purchase. It will look nice on my shelf along with my other LEGO Batman sets.

If you want one, you’ll have to get it before the end of January. Fortunately, it’s not too terribly hard to spend $35 on LEGO.

Note: I’ve built all of these sets and I’m hoping to add the reviews soon. Stay tuned!
